How to care for your ear plugs

Ear plugs play a vital part when protecting your hearing and so demand to be cared for. It is simple to clean your ear plugs and should become part of everyday routine. When using ear plugs it is also important to make sure your ears are clean as well as the plugs, dirty ears can compromise the effect the ear plugs. Single use or disposable ear plugs should not be washed and reused and should be disposed after one use.

Reuasble ear plugs

  • Fill a bowl with warm water and use a soap, (dish soap can be used) and leave the ear plugs for a few minutes in the soapy water to soak.

  • With your fingers or if preferred a tooth brush remove all dirt and ear wax from the plugs.

  • Once all matter is removed, rinse the ear plugs with cold water and leave to air dry to discourage any bacteria.

  • When not in use it is advised to store your ear plugs in a case, this keeps your ear plugs from any unwanted bacteria or fungi.

  • If you want to disinfect the ear plugs, spray them with alcohol and leave to air dry.

  • Do not wash silicone putty or soft wax ear plugs.

  • Multiple use ear plugs can last approximately 2-4 weeks, depending on care.
